Even in these dark and dramatic days in Formula One, some people are laughing. In fact quite a lot of people in the higher reaches of the sport spend most of their time laughing. That is a group that would not have included Ron Dennis by the way.

In the recent weeks, after the F1 world healed its split rift with the FIA, attention was set to be turned to Silly Season, but was stylishly interrupted by Massa’s incident; Schumacher’s missed Return, Badoer’s awful form, and now, Renault’s almost disastrous scandal.

I know it wasn't in the scripts and well everyone were in for a surprise and what a delightful surprise it was. Adjectives weren't at hand to celebrate the most cherishing occasion since an Indian driver drove an F1 car in 2005.

Organisers say they now have funds in place to complete a circuit in time for 2010 race.

So the first qualifying session at the brand new and quite spectacular Abu Dhabi circuit. The drivers coped very well with all the changes and it was an entertaining session. The main feature of the track seems to be how spectacular it looks – they are trying to be the ‘Arabian Monaco’.

Well, firstly it’s very obvious that everyone in the top 10 is on a 2-stop strategy, whilst everyone outside of the top 10 is opting to pit only once during the race.....
